Hi after being taken off Effexor due to it lack of suitability I'm on these now. I've got info on Resperdal but not Citalopram. Any info users could pass onto me would be greatly appreciated. Sorry I haven't been around much I've been hospitalised again.

Thanks Cirus! It was helpful. Have any members experienced weight gain since taking Citalopram? I note that anorexia is amongst the side effects but I've gained weight (about 8kg) since taking it. It could be the Resperdal however which is responsible for that. Apparently antipsychotics can have that effect.

Well most of the side effects of Citalopram are as follows:
· feeling nervous, restless, or unable to sit still; · drowsiness, dizziness, trouble concentrating; · sleep problems (insomnia); · nausea, gas, upset stomach, loss of appetite; · weight changes; · urinating more than usual; · decreased sex drive, impotence, or difficulty having an orgasm; or · dry or watery mouth, yawning, or ringing in your ears. So as you can see, weight changes are also one of the side effects of taking Citalopram. Consult your doctor if you feel that it is affecting more. -------------------- I've come to believe that each of us has a personal calling that's as unique as a fingerprint - and that the best way to succeed is to discover what you love and then find a way to offer it to others in the form of service, working hard, and also allowing the energy of the universe to lead you.
No one can make you feel inferior without your consent. |

Thanks Joost I will let my psychiatrist know when I see hi next. I was wondering why I was getting ringing in my ears almost 24/7, now I know what could be the cause. Dare I say it---it's driving me crazy!

ECT has worked for me where medications didn't. |
