Simple Meditation Techniques

If you want to learn to meditate seriously, you would do well to find an experienced teacher to guide you. However there are many simple techniques that you can practise alone, often with quite powerful effects. The more you practise, the easier it will become to reach a deep meditative state.

There are many meditation techniques. Some of the techniques are quite simple and can be picked up with a little practice. Others require training by an experienced instructor. We will cover some of the simple techniques to get started. Please note that because of the effects of meditation on repressed memories and the psychological impact, you may go through some discomfort initially; hence it is always a good idea to be under the care of a qualified practitioner as you start your meditation

  • Meditation Technique : The numbers game

This is a very simple form of meditatio using a black board real or imaginary. It is a good game to use with children or adults, giving them a taste of meditation and they really enjoy it. What you must do is this:

  1. Get the children to sit or lie comfortably. Once they have found a really comfortable position, ask them to remember it.
  2. With chalk on the blackboard draw a diagram of numbers making sure that there are no mathematical links.
  3. Give the children to memorize the particular sequence.
  4. Ask them to return to their relaxed position, eye closed and concentrate on the numbers alone.
  5. Rub out the numbers, telling them to do the same in their minds. Do this slowly saying 'That leaves just four numbers', etc.
  6. Then rub out the last number, saying 'Now concentrate on what is left'. Let them remain in silence until you notice a restlessness - this is often 3 or more minutes.
  7. Wake them gently with an instruction to 'sit up'. Ask them what the last number was and for their reaction.
  • Meditation Technique : The heaven

Once you have managed to achieve complete physical relaxation ans calm, gradually allow your mind to enter a place whether real or imaginary that is quite special to you. Now you can allow your mind to drift, drift to a pleasant, peaceful place. A place that you know and where you always feel able to relax completely. A safe secure place where noone and nothing can ever bother you. It may be a room or a place you have visited on holiday.

In order to help you imagine this place, notice first the light: Is it bright, natural or dim. Also notice the temperature level: Hot, warm or cool. Be aware of the colors that surrounds you. You can just be there whether sitting, lying or enjoying the sounds, the smells, the atmosphere with nobody wanting anybody, nobody needing anything and no one demanding anything from you. Relax.

  • Meditation Technique : The well

Imagine that you are visiting a beautiful country house...a really beautiful country house with magnificient sweeping lawns on a warm, sunny summers afternoon. A little way down on the right hand side of the drive way, you notice a ornamental fish pond. As you watch those fish, you notice that the center of the pond is very deep. You take from your pocket a silver colored coin and tossed that coin so that it lands over the center of the pond and then you watch as it swings down through the water. The ripples drift to the edges of the pond but you just watch that coin as it sinks deeper and deeper through that clear water sometimes it seems to disappear as it turns on edge, at other times a face of the coin catches the sunlight and it flashes through the water.... sinking, drifting deeper and deeper, twisting and turning as it makes its way down.

Finally it rests at the bottom lying on a cushion of soft brown mud, a silver coin in that still, clean water on its own cushion of mud...and you feel as still as that coin, as still and cool and motionless as that water, enjoying that feeling of inner peace and stillness.

Meditation intoduction and basics - Meditation is frequently confused with various forms of concentration. Meditation is a very effective technique for improving your creativity and problem solving capacity. Meditation is one of the proven alternative therapies. Learn more about it.

How to use meditation? - Meditation is sometimes described as "listening to the silence between thoughts". Our effort in meditation is directed towards consciously increasing the periods of such silence.

What are the benefits of meditation?- One of many benefits of meditation is that it opens your mind to new ideas. When the bowl is full, trying to pour more water into it just causes an overflow. The same happens with our mind. When it is full of thoughts, there is no room for new ideas.

Simple meditation techniques - meditation is an exercise, aiming to prevent thoughts in a natural way, by deeply relaxing the physical body and then trying to keep the mind completely "blank" with no thoughts whatsoever. Learn various meditation techniques.

Tips to guided meditation - Before meditation you may wish to define clearly what do you want to learn, what do you want to ask your Higher Self. During the meditation, do not expect an answer (although it is likely that it will come when your mind will be pure) - this is also a thought!

Holosync and meditation - One of the great beauties of Holosync is how easy it is to use: Some people call it instant meditation, but it's much more than that.

Descartes Meditation: DESCARTES is often called the founder of modern philosophy, and the statement contains a solid core of historical truth.
