Risperdal has been approved to handle schizophrenia is people as young as thirteen years in age. However, it can also work to handle cases of mania or bipolar disorder if it is taken alongside lithium. It can also control irritability that can be present in children and young adults with autism. Depression can even be taken care of through the use of Risperdal.
Risperdal is available in many dosage levels
There are a variety of different dosage levels that Risperdal can work with. It can work in tablets that are 4mg or less in size. Injections that can be used every two weeks can be used as well. These injections can be 50mg in strength in their most significant cases.
The tablets can be 0.25mg in strength for the youngest patients. This is an important safety consideration for anyone to see.
There are some side effects to see for Risperdal
It will help to watch for how there are a few side effects associated with Risperdal. Risperdal can cause weight gain in most people who use it. Insomnia, a drop in blood pressure, constipation and a runny nose can also occur in many people who use it.
Seizures, rashes and extreme cases of sweating can occur in a number of cases when using this medication. There is even the possibility that a man can suffer from a painful erection that can last for hours. These rare side effects should be reported immediately if a person deals with any of these signs.
