After having my own practice for 10 years and become a mother myself, I have become more interested in helping families and couples build better relationships. I am particularly interested in the ways social media impacts daily family/life interaction and educating parents on ways to connect with their children.
I believe that everyone goes through tough periods in life where they sometimes need a trained professional to help them get back on track. I see it as a step of empowerment rather than failure to acknowledge there are issues that need to be addressed in one’s life.

My goal in my practice is to provide a safe, supportive place where clients can explore issues they are facing. I am a licensed clinical psychologist with a B.A. from Samford University, Masters and Doctorate degrees from the University of Alabama. I completed my internship at the Birmingham VA/UAB Department of Psychiatric Medicine. My graduate school training focused on chronic pain, cardiac rehabilitation, developing/implementing health education campaigns and weight loss. I also specialize in depression, anxiety, life transitions, infertility, working with adolescents and parents on communication/building bonds, life/work balance, managing chronic illness, and couples therapy.

As part of Chenal Family Therapy PLC, I work with a team of dedicated therapists who each specialize in different issues. This team approach allows me to bring a much broader expertise than just my own to your counseling experience and provide coordinated treatment and referrals for families or couples.

Had enough? Give me a call when you’re ready to find rest, reboot your heart and mind, and strategize about the next steps in creating a healthier existence. As someone who has found myself at the crossroads more than once, I’d by honored to provide caring guidance as you figure out what change looks like. My goal is to provide a safe place where feelings can be explored and suggestions be considered, without any judgement or pressure. A good therapy session will be one where you feel heard, valued, challenged, and empowered. Nights and weekends available.
I’ve had the unique opportunity to wear a lot of hats in my life, including mother, police officer, and psychology professor. These have given me a soft spot in my heart and unique expertise to work with law enforcement, first responders, parents of infants, empty nesters, and college students.

As a psychotherapist, I work most often with clients with symptoms of depression, those with symptoms of anxiety and couples with relationship challenges. My therapeutic approaches with my clients depend very much on the issues identified and may include: helping you to understand more about who you are and how you got to be who you are; a direct focus on changing your thinking and behavior patterns; exploring the network of relationships in your life.

I am a consulting psychologist to the Episcopal Church in Connecticut and the United Church of Christ in Connecticut. My practice includes many persons of faith, but all are welcome.
I am also an executive coach and enjoy working with clients to facilitate their professional development or address particular workplace or vocational concerns.

I am so glad that you have decided to reach out for support. Counselling may help you gain a better understanding of yourself and your personal goals, and develop skills for improving your relationships. You may overcome a specific problem such as depression, anxiety or addiction. Counselling may also be an opportunity for you to resolve relationships from your past and to heal from traumatic experiences. You may even find that participating in psychotherapy results in positive changes that were not even initially expected. You’re ready for change in your life so let’s find a solution together!

I received my Bachelor of Science in biology and Master of Science in fish ecology and ecotoxicology from UNB. After all the science, I obtained an Associate of Theological Studies from Maine, USA. Ultimately, I decided to pursue counselling and received my Master of Education in counselling from UNB.
Since graduating I have become a Licensed Counselling Therapist (LCT) through the College of Counselling Therapists of New Brunswick (CCTNB) as well as a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) through the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA).

My recipe for therapy starts with three primary ingredients: a safe space, proven techniques and a plan tailored to fit each individual. Talking to a complete stranger about your struggles can be nerve wracking at first. I understand how important it is to feel comfortable with your therapist. So I create a warm, accepting space, free of judgement to help support your growth.

I have been helping people work on a variety of issues for more than a decade. Whether we are working on depression, anxiety, substance related problems or any other issue, I believe in using techniques that research has shown to be effective.
You are unique. Your struggles, goals, strengths and preferences are unique to you. For that reason I tailor every aspect of your therapy to you. I will work with you to identify your goals and help you conquer the challenges that stand between you and the life you want.
