I offer three streams of holistic psychotherapy: Mind/Body Psychotherapy for adolescents and adults, Play Therapy for children under the age of twelve, and Yoga Fusion Psychotherapy, a unique combination of psychotherapy and yoga therapy for clients over the age of eighteen. I’m enthusiastic about my work, creatively drawing from both Eastern and Western traditions. As well as being trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, I am a certified Logosynthesis Practitioner. Strategies include mindfulness meditation, Logosynthesis, breathing/grounding exercises, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, journaling, yoga therapy, Qigong, play, art, and humour.

Most recently, I created Knotted Words Celtic Art, an online business selling inspirational celtic art, combining celtic knotwork with literary quotes, ranging from nursery rhymes and fairytales to poetry and more gothic fare inspired by the likes of H. P. Lovecraft and Edgar Allan Poe.

My approach is to allow you to bring your past into the present so that you can develop skills that free you to thrive in the future. I provide a safe, open and encouraging space to equip and free you to do three things: * identify automatic negative, limiting or unproductive thoughts and behaviours, and imagine a life beyond them; * move from the bondage of those thoughts and behaviours, into a freedom of intention and choice where you can live life with purpose and passion; * develop the skill to sustain this freedom on your own.

My clients worldwide learn to manage expectations, change thinking and behaviour, live a congruent lifestyle and create a sustainable self-care plan. I address a wide range of problems including: stress & anxiety; depression; unresolved anger; forgiveness; grief; bitterness; low self-esteem; identity crisis; conflict; family issues; marriage conflicts; crisis intervention.

At the core of every person is a desire to feel safety, security, and love. These desires follow us throughout life and need to be satisfied in order for us to experience life to the fullest. Healthy relationships and connection with others help satisfy these needs. When these needs are not being met through relationships with friends, families, or lovers, people experience negative emotions and stress. The family system is also very important. Healthy boundaries and family structure are essential for a person to feel confident about who they are and what they have to offer.

It is important for me understand and connect with the people I work with. My hope is they would feel heard and experience hope. I believe God has a plan and purpose for everyone, which gives me passion and hope to work with the darkest situations people are facing.
I am passionate about working to help people experience the most this life has to offer. I serve people in the areas of anxiety, depression, grief/loss, identity formation, parenting, and marital/pre-marital.

Hi, I’m Russ. I recently joined a mental health private practice, Northern Star Counseling, after working in larger agencies. I have a laid-back approach that is often comfortable for clients. I look forward to working together.
I have enjoyed serving our nation’s veterans on issues related to their service. I have worked with people with developmental disabilities as well as the elderly. I also find work with children and teenagers to be fulfilling. Essentially, I am happiest when I can empower people to improve themselves.

As a Wyoming native, I was born and raised in Casper, Wyoming and later graduated with a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Colorado State University. In session, I will customise techniques and treatment plans that work for you. Call today to take the first step toward wellness.
