I offer three streams of holistic psychotherapy: Mind/Body Psychotherapy for adolescents and adults, Play Therapy for children under the age of twelve, and Yoga Fusion Psychotherapy, a unique combination of psychotherapy and yoga therapy for clients over the age of eighteen. I’m enthusiastic about my work, creatively drawing from both Eastern and Western traditions. As well as being trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, I am a certified Logosynthesis Practitioner. Strategies include mindfulness meditation, Logosynthesis, breathing/grounding exercises, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, journaling, yoga therapy, Qigong, play, art, and humour.

Most recently, I created Knotted Words Celtic Art, an online business selling inspirational celtic art, combining celtic knotwork with literary quotes, ranging from nursery rhymes and fairytales to poetry and more gothic fare inspired by the likes of H. P. Lovecraft and Edgar Allan Poe.

I am a part-time professor, Registered Psychologist, and owner of Cornerstone Psychological Services in Halifax. I offer therapy for children (10+), teens, adults, couples, and families. I work collaboratively with my clients to address a wide range of issues from depression and anxiety to existential concerns.

I consider myself a theoretical integrationist, drawing primarily from attachment, psychodynamic, and existential models of therapy. I strive to understand the whole person and will tailor therapy to the needs of each client. My aim is to provide experiences that address core issues while promoting real and lasting change.
I have a keen interest in helping people address longstanding problems that may have gone unresolved in previous therapy. I am very passionate about my job and enjoy the challenge of uncovering the obstacles that get in the way of each person finding their way to a fulfilling life.

My approach is to allow you to bring your past into the present so that you can develop skills that free you to thrive in the future. I provide a safe, open and encouraging space to equip and free you to do three things: * identify automatic negative, limiting or unproductive thoughts and behaviours, and imagine a life beyond them; * move from the bondage of those thoughts and behaviours, into a freedom of intention and choice where you can live life with purpose and passion; * develop the skill to sustain this freedom on your own.

My clients worldwide learn to manage expectations, change thinking and behaviour, live a congruent lifestyle and create a sustainable self-care plan. I address a wide range of problems including: stress & anxiety; depression; unresolved anger; forgiveness; grief; bitterness; low self-esteem; identity crisis; conflict; family issues; marriage conflicts; crisis intervention.

The first part of the getting-to-know-you process I will complete an initial assessment to help determine the depth of your depression, anxiety, unhealthy/healthy coping strategies, personality characteristics and other areas that may be causing you to feel stuck. All the while using a strength-based approach. After the assessment, we can explore your problem areas through collaborative discussions. For some people, just being able to talk freely about a problem brings relief, being validated and supported helps in the letting go process. The early stages of counselling will help you clarify what’s troubling you.

You will learn new skills that will help you see yourself and the world differently and how to distinguish between situations you can change and those you cannot. Please specify preference in email for Halifax or Bedford office. First 30 minute initial consultation free.
