Everyone faces life challenges sooner or later; either everyday problems, or dealing with issues related to life circumstances or history. For nearing 30 years, I have offered counselling to individuals, couples, and their families. My training (MSW, RSW, PhD) and life experience enables me to be comfortable with a variety of ages, genders, races, cultures, orientations, and life-styles. Within short-term counselling, longer-term therapy, and clinical assessments, my approach is to empower and provide perspective within a comfortable, welcoming space. Clients tell me that they feel at ease in my office, and appreciate my conversational approach.

I have particular skill to work with multihome and blended families. I am trained in Family Mediation related to separation/divorce, parenting plans, custody/access, estrangement, and family reconciliation. I conduct professional assessments and make recommendations for custody/access, as well as children's views. Assessments are thorough and professional.

I offer decades of relevant experience and expertise to clients who are in the midst of a life changing transition and/or existential dilemma. My approach entails creating a safe, open, engaging relational space and then acting as a catalytic companion by using strategic questions to probe and coax the client to the discoveries and adaptations that will make a difference for them. Once the client's stress states, emotional concerns and confused thinking have been calmed and clarified, my aim is to identify and build upon their signature strengths so that they can fully realize their potentials and capacities.

I am a registered psychologist who specializes in narrative therapy, existential/humanistic therapy, emotion-focused therapy, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, Gottman-informed couples therapy, positive psychology techniques, conflict resolution and stress management. I create the conditions whereby the everyday lives of my clients become more pleasurable, engaging and meaningful.
My therapeutic philosophy is to "meet them where they are and take them where they are going". I believe to "affect the quality of the day is the highest of the arts". Together we will bridge differences, solve dilemmas and create discoveries.

Eye-opening, Challenging, Supportive, Life-changing: These are words clients have used to describe our therapy work together. Many of the individuals with whom I work are experiencing relationship difficulties, life transitions, feelings of anxiety and depression, previous trauma, and loss. I strive to help people gain increased awareness, learn to live more in the present, improve their relationships, and recognize the "shoulds" and other messages that are holding them back from experiencing a more fulfilling life. As a Gestalt-trained Therapist, I see "symptoms" as creative adjustments developed in response to difficult or invalidating environments and experiences.

From the start, co-creating a space and relationship that feels comfortable for people to connect with their authentic selves is important. My office is warm and welcoming, "like home" many say.
