Do you have some idea around how many people and how much percentage of world population is suffering from Mental Illnesses and other forms of mood disorders like depression, anxiety, paranoia, etc.? There are lot of publishing about these numbers and percentages. We have written some of the interesting and unknown facts about these numbers:

  1. There are about 1 million people who die by suicide every year. The worldwide mortality rate of suicide is 16 per 100000 which come down to about one suicide in every 40 seconds.
  2. Majority of suicides occur before the age of 44, away from the popular belief that suicide is an old age issue.
  3. Suicide is the third leading cause of death for both sexes.
  4.  About 1 million American Senior Citizens are victim of elder abuse every year
  5. Between 3 and 5 percent of older adults over the age of 65 are victims of abuse and neglect by family members.
  6. Some studies suggest that the prevalence rate of child and adolescent depressive disorders is from 2 to 9 percent across the world.

Mental illness and abnormal behavior touch the lives of just about all of us. What’s going on? How can it be that so many highly problematic psychiatric disorders, abnormal behaviors, and problems in living impact so many people?

Abnormal behavior is the root cause of all of these problem areas and issues faced by the world today.  The help available on Mental Health disorders today should help bridge gap between academic and self-help /inspirational material on abnormal psychology that impact society in general.

If we better understand the factors that contribute to these basic abnormal behaviors and patterns in the current race of humans, then perhaps we can find newer ways to prevent some of these problems from getting inside our society and better evaluate/treat those who suffer from these anomalies and abnormalities.

In an effort to create a better atmosphere and safe environment for ourselves and our children we must help people come out of the cycle of abnormal behavior. We should always strive to help those who are troubled by abnormal behavior in themselves, their loved ones, and their communities. By doing this, we can contribute towards creating a better world.

Sometimes crying or laughing
are the only options left,
and laughing feels better right now.
