Mineral Deficiency and ADHD

What minerals are involved?

It has been found that many people who have ADHD will be ones that are dealing with mineral deficiencies. This is something that could be a cause of the symptoms of ADHD. For example, it has been found that people with ADHD do not have enough magnesium in their diets. This is a difficult thing for the body in that it can influence the way how one acts in life. Calcium has been found to impact the body as well in that studies have found that people with ADHD have low calcium levels.

Can supplements work?

Supplements that are used to handle mineral deficiencies will be able to work. These supplements are used in that they can help to provide the body with one’s daily needed value of some kind of mineral like magnesium. The use of a calcium supplement that contains magnesium can work as well. The use of a supplement can be truly beneficial for not only the body but also for the brain of a person with ADHD. It will work to ensure that it will function properly.

How long until it works?

Although the use of supplements to take care of mineral deficiencies can be beneficial it will take a while for the effects of these supplements to be fully visible. In some cases it can take one or two weeks for a mineral to be able to work properly. This is thanks to how a mineral that is able to work out right will be able to improve one’s body immediately. This may work to help with getting the effects of ADHD to be reduced. However, there are some cases where a person may not be able to feel the effects for at least a month. All people will react differently to these materials for handling mineral deficiencies.
