Do You Suffer From Counterphobia |
||
What is Counterphobia?The preference by a phobic for fearful situations. It is vital, therefore, that people, including the phobic patient, make a priority of finding ways of easing their bodies and minds out of fight or flight mode and in order to do this they need a greater understanding and awareness of how their bodies work. The body's automatic physical response to danger or stress involves an intricate chain reaction of bodily and biochemical effects, involving the brain, the nervous system and hormones. As soon as a threat is perceived, the body explodes with energy and strength, and thousands of messenger hormones flood into the bloodstream to call the alarm. Minds and bodies instantly become clear, alert and poised ready for action. |
