What is Cypridophobia?
Cypridophobia or Cypriphobia or Cyprianophobia or Cyprinophobia - Fear of prostitutes or venereal disease.
Three classes of drugs have been used in the treatment of phobia:
- Antidepressants - Benzodiazepines such as Beta-blockers.
Antidepressants , at least in the short term, have a lower risk of producing dependency and withdrawal symptoms. However, they have to be taken for some time before they start to work and can produce unpleasant side effects which may make them unpopular with patients. They do, however, seem to relieve the panic symptoms of a significant number of phobic patients.
- Both traditional and new varieties have been tried, generally with mixed results.
